If you want to know the character of a company you look at the people running it. When you apply that to Grizzaffi Darby, you see a company with the strength of experience and understanding, a high bar for success, genuine care for its impact on clients, a love of family and friends, and a down-to-earth appreciation of life.

Trey Darby began his employee benefit career shortly before graduating from the University of North Texas in l986. His rapid climb up the corporate ladder culminated with his appointment as Vice President of Group Operations for New York Life. While at New York Life, Trey helped put together a merger with Sanus, resulting in one of the largest managed care companies in the country. Trey is a Registered Representative of NFP Securities, Inc.

In 1996, seeking more personal contact, both with clients and with his growing children, Trey left the corporate world and formed Grizzaffi Darby, LLC with longtime friend Luke Grizzaffi.

Not content to create just another benefits company, Trey established a different sort of client representation. Grizzaffi Darby was built as a “client advocacy” firm, operating under a new set of client-centric principles dubbed the Benefit Buyers Bill of Rights. These principles call for a new dynamic between client and consultant – a partnership previously unavailable in the industry.

Attracting some of the best talent in the industry and operating with a fresh sense of purpose, Grizzaffi Darby has become one of the largest, and most honored, employee benefit firms in Texas. It has been recognized as one of the “Fastest Growing Companies in North Texas” and as “One of the Best Places to Work.” Grizzaffi Darby is Trey’s confirmation that even time-chiseled industries can be reshaped for the better by the hand of fresh, timely ideas and a determined, energetic team. And the growth of Grizzaffi Darby proves that those who embrace the needed changes are rewarded.

Voted “Most Likely to Leave and Never Come Back” by his high school, Trey surprised everyone and kept the Denton area as his home. Outside the office, Trey enjoys time with his wife of 21 years and their three children who are active in competitive sports and academics. When not with the family, Trey keeps busy with pretending to be a soccer star, wake-boarder, or surfer, rather than a benefit consultant.
