One of Mike Kahley’s first business endeavors was to visit student groups across 70 college campuses and convince them to better fashion their risk management practices. That tough experience helped shaped Mike’s patience, determination, and ability to make a sound case before any audience. These are a few of the skills that have made him a natural leader at Grizzaffi Darby.
A 1993 graduate of Baylor University, Mike entered the employee benefits business as an Account Representative for Great-West Life & Annuity (now a part of CIGNA Healthcare). He worked with hundreds of clients to understand aspects of managed care, funding alternatives, plan design, and effective communication strategies. He consulted on defined contribution 401(k) plans, non-qualified deferred compensation, and other financial products as well.
Frustrated by the limited solutions available with a single carrier, Mike joined Grizzaffi Darby, LLC in 2002. Mike’s enthusiasm for engaging both the human resource needs of his clients and addressing the financial challenges faced by CFOs allowed him to grow his practice quickly.
During this period of growth, Mike took the opportunity to work with clients to build employee benefit strategies for them. He used available data to outline the reasons benefit strategies would be successful and located unique vendor partners to help make these strategies a reality. Mike turned a reactive process into a proactive interaction, while his clients generated savings and enjoyed far greater planning predictability.
In January 2006, Mike earned partnership at Grizzaffi Darby, LLC. With Mike’s contributions and countless others from the team behind him, Grizzaffi Darby was named one of the “Fastest Growing Companies in North Texas” and one of “Dallas’ Best Places to Work.” Mike is a Registered Representative of NFP Securities, Inc.
As a husband of thirteen years and father of three, Mike is especially proud of the unique professional, family-oriented atmosphere at Grizzaffi Darby. The Kahleys’ live in Highland Village and enjoy being thoroughly involved in the church and all the Kahleys’ either coach or participate in youth baseball or soccer. When Mike finds a moment to slow down, you might find him reading history and planning the next adventurous Kahley trip.
